Below are pictures from our art party. The students earned an art party for good behavior and were allowed to use any supplies they wanted to create anything they wanted. We also enjoyed root beer floats. One of your students could win $100 in an essay contest. The Red Cross is hosting the 14th Annual Heroes in the Heartland, recognizing special citizens who, because of their brave acts of heroism, or unselfish devotion to the welfare of others, have been selected from a broad field of nominations as community heroes. Part of the even is a student essay contest for grades 5-8. They invite students to write about people they consider 'heroes' in their own lives.
You student will come home with a flyer for this competition so that you can read about it and encourage them to enter. There will be 7 winners. The money will be presented to those people at Eagle Elementary in January. In addition, the winning writers, their families, and their heroes will be invited to attend the Heroes in the Heartland luncheon on March 12, 2014 at the Embassy Suites La Vista Convention Center. This is a great opportunity for your student to be recognized for his/her writing and effort. If your student would like to do this, they need to attach a copy of the flyer to their essays and have it mailed in to be received by November 25th. The flyer has a section for demographics and must be filled out. I will mail these out for your student on November 10th if they would like me to, otherwise you can mail it as well to the address listed on the flyer. Happy Wednesday! Open house seems like it was so long ago. Finally, I am ready to upload some pictures taken from this night. Feel free to right click and save any photos of your children to your own computers. Enjoy! |
